Our well-supported AGM was held on Tuesday 12th May, with Sylvia selling her excellent value choice perennials in aid of club funds beforehand, then a complimentary cream tea after the official business, much enjoyed by all of us. Members ratified the annual subscription of £25 and we presented Brenda, who did not stand for re-election this time, with a card and gift for her longstanding service on the committee. We announced this year’s winner of the Trudi Brearley Challenge Trophy, who unfortunately wasn’t there to receive it so it will be presented to her at a future meeting.

Afterwards we drew the raffle then discussed all the forthcoming events in our busy year ahead, starting with our guided tour of Shugborough Forest Garden this Friday 15th. We’re all looking forward to this after Lizzie’s fascinating talk last autumn. We also chatted about our plant stall at next month’s Midsummer Fair with members growing plants to sell and also helping to set up and run the stall and wheelbarrow competition.

There were lots of notices about local events too, and our joint coach trip with our friends at Burntwood Gardening Guild to RHS Bridgewater on 20th July. Plus an opportunity to hear about June’s highly recommended vinegar weedkiller recipe!
